2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder

Audi is launching a new version of R8 GT called R8 GT Spyder at Frankfurt Motor Show. It will cost 20,000 US$ more than the R8 GT Coupe version (which costs 196,800 US$) and will be unveiled this fall.

Engine

As with the coupe, the 5.2 litre V10 engine powers the car with 560 bhp, peak torque of 398 lbs-ft at 6,500 rpm. This makes the car go from 0-60 mph in whopping 3.8s and a top speed of 197 mph (~317 km/h)
The transmission is 6-speed R tronic with 2 automatic modes. In the manual mode additionally available, driver can change gears by pushing the pedal wheel below steering or the stick. As with fast accelerating cars, the launch control is also there for a control over engine speed and tire slip.
Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system is installed as well which delivers additional torque at front axle when needed.

Suspension, Steering & Wheels

The suspension system includes aluminum double wishbones for a lightweight design.
The steering is rack-and-pinion power steering. The car has 19″ wheels combined with large, lightweight carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs.

Exterior

The car has front splitter with dual lips, flics at the sides of the front bumper, GT badges, round exhaust pipe , bigger diffuser, and dark LED tail lights in a clear-glass design.
A lightweight fabric comes to cover the car in just 19s when driving around 30 mph. An extensible glass rear window is also present for protecting passengers on high speeds.

Interior

The seats chassis are made of glass fibre reinforced plastic that reduce over 70 lbs. The entire interior is colored black to give it an elegant look with red or gray components embedded in it. Alcantra Upholstery covers the steering wheel, seats, windscreen frame with an option of Nappa leather covering available.
