Sony NGP (AKA PSP2)

NGP
Were you waiting for the improved version of the good ol’ PSP? Sick sony making the same thing slimmer first time, brighter second time and sliding the third time but the same thing?
Don’t worry! Sony isn’t that lazy. All the hungry gamers just have to see what Sony Computer Entertainment came up with this time. Exactly what people would want (and me too!). That’s right, unbelievable graphics on a handheld console. What’s more, PlayStation 3-style graphics!
I can read your mind thinking “Woah!”. I mean any living creature with a fully-functional brain would think that. Sony is releasing it…Yay! …this holiday season…Aw!
It’s called Sony NGP which stands for ‘Next Generation Portable’. Let’s take a look at the console, shall we?
Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU
Quad-Core SGX543MP4+ GPU
960 x 544 Resolution on 5-inch touchscreen (O.o)
Optical Trackpad on the back
Two analog sticks
BlueTooth, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS Communications
Accelerometer/Gyroscope
Electronic Compass
Built-In Stereo Speakers & Microphone
Two Cameras (Front and Rear)
Enough to make you drool? Wait till you see it in action (See the videos at the end).
The User Interface (UI) in NGP is called LiveArea (No more XMB)What’s more, you can pause your game progress and access LiveArea. Do what you want and return without losing game progress.
About the game media, no more UMDs (Not so universal, eh?), the NGP will have two slots, one for some new memory card and the other for the card with the game in it. That’s right! The new game media are Cards looking like the memory stick which are much faster (and cheaper) than a UMD. No word on the price yet.
Sony said it will support “Cross-Platforming” with the PlayStation 3. What does it mean? It means that the new developed PS3 games will also be available on the NGP and some NGP games will be available on the PS3 (Not most of them, otherwise what would be the point of NGP then?) and NGP will have special features in the game PS3 doesn’t have and PS3 version will have features not included in NGP and will offer connectivity between the two.
More? It’s getting Metal Gear Solid 4! That’s a big deal. Imagine those highly-detailed graphics in the palm of your hand! Watch the videos below:
