Laptop That Is Controlled By The Eyes

This new innovation by Tobii Analysis Solutions can help you control objects on the screen of your laptop. For example, if you encounter a zombie on your way in a game, no need to panic and press your keyboard hard. Just move your eyes as if they were laser and there goes the zombie.

This innovation can well eliminate the need of cursors & mouse pad on laptops which become an issue when using laptops, compared to desktops. It has two infra-red light trackers that throw the beams into your eyes and then receive the reflection that comes back from retina. The nature of response received can be calibrated (adapted) according to the person using the laptop. Hence it becomes possible to move cursor without using mousepad. Works effectively for both the people with glasses or no glasses.

Which Laptop has this eye-tracker in it ?
The laptops carrying these trackers aren’t up for sale yet but 20 such samples of laptops were prepared by the renowned company Lenovo & are planned to be exhibited CeBIT Technology Trade Show in Germany. The cost is currently several thousand US Dollars for implementing these but once they go into market, costs are expected to drop down making this technology available for every laptop.

Advantages ?
Like many other innovations, this one tends to change the way we use computers. Recently touchscreens have been developed to make the use of gadgets altogether more easy and eliminating hardware required to operate but this one goes even farther. This would eliminate the touchscreen too putting an end to frustrations that occur when touchscreens get malfunctioned after some excessive use.

Other Potential Uses
- Another example demonstration of this tracker system included scrolling a page upon reaching the end
- Steering cars in racing simulations
- Sketching
- Coloring

And much much more
