Diet Coke has overtook Pepsi cola in sales for the very first time, making it 2nd most popular soft carbonated drink in US.
This is another achievement for Coca Cola company who has been arch rival with Pepsi for decades in controlling the soft drink market. Earlier on Pepsi had a small lead on Coca Cola in 2009 with both brands having less than 10% share in carbonated drinks market. But in the end at the same year, Coca Cola recorded 17% winning the “cola wars”.
However for 2010, the Beverage digest who is going to release market data is expected to put Coca Cola clearly ahead of Pepsi. The data will also confirm that coca cola is the preferred drink in restaurants and other key figures regarding market shares.
