BlackBerry PlayBook

Blackberry Playbook is RIM’s first try at tablet and the developers of it have taken a unique route to the product design that incorporates the smartphone features with those of a traditional tablet.

Playbook can run multiple applications at a time and you can easily switch between them by swiping the vertical display to show app selection on homepage. You can keep an eye on incoming mail, switch to photo viewer, edit document and similar tasks at same time by switching between them frequently.

The PlayBook comes with its own document editing package ‘Docs To Go’. RIM bought it from Dataviz and has optimised it to contain word processor, spreadsheet solutions in a single suite. Users can receive document via secure email on their tablet, edit and then forward it for their official work.

PlayBook can be used in presentations too by the presenter. It can be connected to large screen via its HDMI-out port while presenter can see the content himself in his hand.

The device supports video upto 1080p, has 5 megapixel camera at back, 3 megapixel at front (facing user). The internal storage is a whopping 16GB. It is powered by 1Ghz dual core processor.
Blackberry PlayBook comes with service known as BlackBerry Ridge that allows secure bluetooth connection between smartphone and tablet. The Blackberry corporate administered server BES wont be compromised by this feature.
Also Blackberry has added support for mobile operator payments with Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone. This allows for billign on device. This feature allows users to gift app to their friends via messaing service and allows mobile payments.
