Eco-Friendly Bottles from Pepsi

PEPSI, the famous soft-drink maker has revealed the bottles that have been made entirely out of plant material. This is a part of PEPSI’s efforts to contribute towards a greener earth and products.

The bottle is made of following materials:

  • Corn Husk
  • Pine Bark
  • Switch Grass

and some other similar materials. PEPSI also plans to use orange peels, potato scrap and wastes from other leftovers.

The new bottles dont have any risks associated with the drink inside. It looks the same as the normal plastic bottles and protects the drink from environmental factors. The discovery can provide replacement for the industry standard for plastic packaging. Traditional plastic, called PET, is used in beverage bottles, food pouches, coatings and other common products. This PET plastic is made from petroleum which is increasing in price and can also affect the drink prices if replacement wasn’t found.

The company will introduce few thousands bottles of such type in 2012. Once assured the bottles are safe and viable, mass production of them will be started and all products will be shifted to such bottles.
